MG MGB Technical - engine color code
Hi all i thought of seen a post about this question but i cannot find it, i would like to know if anybody knows the engine color code for mgb 1971 its dark red...iam busy painting the car to its original blaze color. Thank you. |

18V engines from August 71 were black, before that 18Gx were maroon, with possibly very early engines in red. |

Bruce, The engine bay looks great. Do you know if the engine paint used was heat resistant? Is the paint 2-packacrylic; if not, what type of single pack paint was used? A Rodrigues: the car body looks really well. Brian |

Single stage paint that the local automotive paint shop mixed up. I don't know what the brand of paint is that they use, but they make it up in rattle cans. They said that the paint holds up well on engines and is used by a lot of the people that paint their engine. I tested it on another metal part to see how it reacted to antifreeze. (Last Moss engine paint I used turned yellow when antifreeze hit it). No color change with the antifreeze on the new paint. |
