MG MGB Technical - Fuel filter

I have recently replaced both needles and seats in my carbs, as I had a problem with one of them flooding, as my car did not have a fuel filter fitted I decided to fit one, I also wanted to be able to revert back to the original set up, if for any reason I had a problem with the fuel filter, I also wanted to retain the original braided fuel pipe with the screw on union that connects to the steel pipe from the tank, after a bit of a search I found this filter from Mann part no WK 42/5 £3-00, it is held in place with a Terry spring clip, it is out the way and held secure, and can be swopped, back original in seconds. Andy, that looks like the fuel filter on my Samurai. RAY

It is used on Daihatsu and Toyota models Ray

I fitted an inline filter for the same reason. So far I can see no bits of crud in it :-)

I put one of those on my ZS as an oil trap, from In-line filters. They have dozens in all sorts of configurations.

And so what did you use for the fitting to connect the outgoing clean fuel (line) to the carb? You illustrate the problem inherent to adding a post pump filter to these cars. Nice job of cutting the braided steel covered line and securing it under the clamp on the filter. By adding the filter after the pump you avoid burning up the SU pump if it gets clogged that would occur if the placement prior to the pump, or between tank and pump.

Mr Cole, I am not sure what you mean by,(And so what did you use for the fitting to connect the outgoing clean fuel (line) to the carb?) without stating the obvious, it was a piece of 6mm flexible fuel hose and a fuel hose clip, also I did not cut the braided fuel pipe, as I said in my original post I wanted to be able to revert back to standard if needed, that is the original braided fuel pipe uncut.
