MG MGB Technical - gearbox dipstick

hi chaps. can anyone inform me how to get to check the gearbox dipstick on my 1979 mgbgt. regards vince in sunny cornwall

No dipstick on late cars. Plug on side of gbx from underneath.

There isn't a dipstick on the later cars, just a level/fill plug on the side of the box. Undo the square plug and see if the oil runs oil runs out, if it doesn't, then top up until it does.

Make sure you are checking with the car level, not easy unless you have a pit.

Or a sloping drive. Which I don't have any more so it's ramps at one end and axle stands at the other.
