MG MGB Technical - Gearbox mounts 3 sync pull handle

I have to replace the mounts on a very early car - they have perished from 40 years of oil leaks and it has failed on that for its 5-yearly safety check.

Are there any tips to doing this with the gearbox and engine in place. I have a well equipped workshop, and can also get access to a pit or lift if that makes it any easier.

Does the car have overdrive? This can make all the difference as the od unit is a bear to work around. The way around this problem is to drill a hole on each side of the crossmember that allows you to gain access to the gearbox mounts. RAY

Yes, it does have OD
