MG MGB Technical - Gearbox Thrust washers
Is there any source for a 22B304 rear layshaft thrust washer anywhere? Or a thicker 22B305 at a puch? Theye are listed everywhere but all marked as Unavailable. Anybody know of any NOS lying around or even has a spare they are willing to sell? |

You could try Heathrow transmissions. They rebuild these boxes, so must have a source for the parts. |

I have already emailed them and anybody else I could trawl off the various forums as likely. Have had a couple of negative and some "will look" answers so far. I suspect the best best is going to be someone who has one sitting in the garage. |

"They rebuild these boxes, so must have a source for the parts." But are they willing to supply them or a source for them, when the alternative could well be a rebuild job, that is the question. |

I don't know if those for your MGB box are very different from and more complicated than those for my MGA, but if not then the best is to do what a good rebuilder ( or an amateur lke me ) would do - make them ( or in my case get somebody else to make them ). |

My understanding is that gearbox re-builders, if they don't have their own stock of NOS parts, strip and size good parts from gearboxes they are breaking. I have my endfloat down to around 7 thou now by mixing up various parts from two gearboxes but before I go any further I just want to ensure I can't get the proper part, or find a way of getting round it by shimming etc. |
