MG MGB Technical - glue for underhood insulation

I have searched thearchives for what to use to attach the insulation under the hood. Anybody do it recently and what did you use. Someone suggested Weldwood contact cement. Any more thoughts? Thanks in advance for your help.

I started a similar thread months ago. Weldwood was mentioned a great deal, but couldn't find it here in the UK. I finished up using something called "Sticks Like S**T" It has high tensile strength, and good heat resisance. My conversion has a V8 lump, and that generates a lot of heat! 6 months down the line and it's still there!

The Moss spray contact adhesive part # 409-035 is really good stuff. I used it to install the heavy, one piece under hood insulation pad on my MGC four years ago and the pad hasn't budged. The MGC generates a lot of under-hood heat. I'd use it again for sure.

Someone mentioned RTV silicone adhesive. Is this the stuff in a caulking tube? Any experience with it? I can get it at a local store and it is less expensive than the Moss adhesive.

I have used 3-M all purpose contact adhesive in a spray can on the 2 insulating panels on my B. You need to spray both the panel and the hood, let it set up a few minutes, then apply, I used masking tape to hold the panels in place until dry. I remember it made a real mess wherever I was careless with the stuff.

I used 3M Super Trim Adhesive part #08090 10 years ago and the liner has not fallen down yet. 3M also has a General Trim Adhesive part #08088 which is not as strong but as Joe has said worked well for him. You just need to spray a 3 light coats of adhesive on both the panel and the bonnet let it set up for a minute or two and then press them together. The directions are on the can.

I use one piece extra heavy entry pad stock from Home Depot. It is 1/4 inch + thick, rubber under tuff, in 3 foot rolls. Cut to fit, it weighs about 4 #'s and stays stuck with 3M STA spray adhesive. You won't believe the noise dampening of this treatment. VEM

A pal recently reported that the kit from the MGOC was self-adhesive.
P Hunt

I confirm the MGOC kit is self-adhesive - mine's been firmly attached for 10 years now.
