MG MGB Technical - GT head lining suppliers
I would like to replace the head lining and head rail sections on my '67 GT and would appreciate any suggestions where good quality and close resembling units can be bought. Many thanks, Brian |

Brian. Moss do the parts you require. Give the Bradford branch a ring. they do mail order. 01274 53999 I have no commercial interest in the firm but I do a lot o business with them and find them remarkably good. The quality of the product is also O.K. Regards Jim |

Jim, thanks for posting back. How close to the original item is the head lining panel and rail coverings? Will I be able to remove all of the old head lining or must it remain in place. And what material, if any, is used as the lining backing? Thanks again, Brian |

Brian I ordered mine from Brown and Gammons in the UK. The light grey material was very close to what was originally on the C Post panels, the headlinere material I removed from mine was a bit smoother and heavier than the new material which is the original color but a bit thin and grainier than what came off. It does not come close to the thickness of the coverings on the surround pieces but looks ok. The headliner panel can be very carefully removed, it is only moulded foam. I peeled off the old and stuck the new on with 3M fabric spray adhesive. Those pieces that surrond the headliner and windsheild are not removable and have to be done in place. The rear roof panel with light comes off and this allows you to maneuver the headliner out. Oh yeah when I peeled off the headlining there is/was a thin piece of wax like paper that should stay on the headliner. peel off slowly so you don't lift this off too. This is what I glued the new material to. My headliner looked fine before, but did not match the newly recovered panels. so I recovered it too. Mike |

The C post pieces, those are the kind of pointed pieces that go from the headliner down the sides adjacent to the hatch right? Those are shot on my 70 BGT. Is there a place online where I can order new coverings for those? I recently got a covering kit for my door toppers, the tag on the package said "Made in England". I bought it from an Ebay British parts dealer. Rick (slowly restoring bit by bit this 70 split bumper GT) Bastedo |

Rick Vic Brit has the C Post panels in stock, at least they did a few months ago. I called to inquire about them before I found a good pair on ebay. They are almost always destroyed Mike, also restoring a '70 BGT |

Mike, very cool - so what can you tell me about finding the unique bits for the split bumper 70 GT? Also, what did you search for on Ebay to find those covers? Does the seller have more? |

Hi. Brian The material is a very good substitute for the original . Once it is in place you wouldn"t notice any difference. Lining backing can often be reused it depends on condition. I reckon Mikes comments are spot on. Rick. Moss also do the C post covers in matching material. The ones I"ve used have been fine. Jim |

Rick Yes, this model is quite unique. Good used parts are not always that easy to find. I searched in MGB under interior and just generaly surfing ebay. You see a usable pair every once in awhile, they are usually always distorted because of their location where the weather gets to them. By the time I tried to cut and fit my own masonite panels and the cost to recover the ones I pruchased I don't think the 69.95 pt# 16-131-GR is that bad of a deal. Rick you should send me your email so I can send items your way if I come across anything, I'm always looking. Mk2sprite@att.net we can discuss the intriquisies of the '70 GT too. Mike |
