MG MGB Technical - GT rear screen heater connections
I have just had my rear screen reinstalled after a complete rebuild. Unfortunately the installers (in my absence) removed the two heater wires from inside the rubber channel and discarded them...I now have them, and will attempt to reinsert them under the rubber. There is a female blade terminal on the screen end of each wire...I have lifted the screen rubber back, but cannot see a male connector there. Does the female connector just slide under the metal piece that protrudes up slightly from the inside of the glass? Has anyone had similar problems with this wiring?

I *thought* the later heated screen had two tails with bullet connectors. My 75 has this with the wires coming out of holes in the rubber seal near the hinges. They seem to run down under the seal to about mid-way down the sides, where there is a slight lump under the rubber. This is probably where the wires are soldered to connector pads, it doesn't seem big enough to be a spade connector, but I'm unwilling to dig too deep for fear of damaging it.

Paul, the female spades are the small type, probably 3/16". The bullet connectors are on the end where the wires come out from behind the screen rubbers..the spades obviously connect somewhere under the rubber.

If there is a metal piece, and it sticks up slightly from the glass, and a 3/16" spade will fit it, then Fanny's your aunt :o)

The spades are parallel to the edge of the glass. The edge is relieved slightly to accomodate them, but the actual attachment to the main metal conductor buss to the elements is on the back side of the glass and it appears to be either bonded or soldered to that buss. The buss, in turn, being bonded to the glass. I will post a photo of this on my website under Misc Electrical, http://www.cibolas7.net/30105.html . It should be up in an hour or less.

Sorry, folks, maybe it will be there tomorrow. Got a weird msg. from my site host and altho the photo is added and the changes saved, it doesn't look like it will get published until this mess is cleared up. I can send a photo, just email me at bobmunch64@yahoo.com.
