MG MGB Technical - Head restraint

Can someone post a picture of the underside of the 77 and later 'oval' head restraint? I'm trying to find out if the plastic strip and screws are the same as with the earlier D-type attached.

Thanks.

Here is a picture of the bottom fixing of my D type head restrain Paul. The fixing plate is a bit different, as well as the screw holes.

Thanks, but it was the oval I was looking for as a comparison to the D-type. I got that now from someone on the MGOC forum this morning.

I've been trying to remove the head restraints in my '74 roadster with no success. I pull up and, if I were stronger, I think I could lift the car. I pull forward and up to no avail. I didn't install the seats and I don't know what changes, if any, the PO made. He is, sadly, no longer with us.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

I had to jack one of mine out with a pillar jack behind the seat.

But if it's going up and down, just not coming out, then all it needs is a good hard yank (no offence ...). There is a spring-clip at the bottom of the tube inside with a corner that sticks out one side, which hits the bottom of the seat tube as in the attached. If you pull hard enough it will be pushed out of the way.

That's my 73 roadster, but I did find on my 75 V8 the bit that sticks out was angled down slightly, so it pushed out of the way easier.

Be careful with those clips, they have very sharp edges and corners.

It may take a jack. I'll try it. Thanks. Jud
