MG MGB Technical - Heater wiring

Now have the heater box out of the 1977 B roadster (see previous thread) but have a loose wire in the heater box itself. Any body know where this goes to I couldnt find any detail in th wiring diagram that i have. I thought the fan was working when i last used the heater but that's a while back and not sure if it was running at both speeds.

Picture attached for info.

Thats not how they are meant to be and has been altered by someone as the 2 wires go direct into the motor as standard

The resistor is there to provide multiple speeds for the fan motor. I don't know if the 77 MGB came this way from the factory or if this is a PO modification. Cheers - Dave

Hi Andy,

As David said.

Check out this part of Paul Hunt's site

http://www.mgb-stuff.org.uk/heater2.htm

for internal wiring.

Thanks Herb, looks like the 3 wires are correct and one has come adrift from the resistor, probably when i was removing it from the car.

Correct indeed, and factory for 77 and later models. I'd like to use that photo on my site if I may, attributed of course.
