MG MGB Technical - Help with piston identification
The pictured piston is from an MG, but I am not sure which one it fits. It is 020 oversize, and it measures 2.88 " (73.0 mm) in diameter and 3.03" (76.9 mm) in height. The top of the piston is stamped with '020" 7352 Sp002" What have I got here? Thanks in advance. Mike ![]() |

The nearest in my book are 1500 B series at 2.875/73.02 mm std, TF1500 at 72mm std, and the WA at 73mm std. What is the compression height? |

Paul: Thanks for the id! The piston came with parts that mostly were MGA 1500, so that likely is it. Where is compression height measured? |
M.E. Whalen |
From the top outer edge of the piston down to the centre of the gudgeon pin. |

The piston compression heights measure 1.63 inches or 41.6 mm. Still sound like MGA 1500? |
M.E. Whalen |
Very close - the book listing is 42mm |

Thanks for al of your help! Michael Whalen |
