MG MGB Technical - How do I adjust the rear drums after new shoes?

I have fitted the new shoes but how do I adjust the rear drum adjuster screw on the back of the drum?

Turning the square adjuster, at the top of the backing plate clockwise, will reduce the clearance between the shoes and drum assembly. Tighten it until you can't rotate the drum by hand and then back it off until the shoes just drag on the drum. RAY

Having fitted new shoes, you'll need to back off the adjuster in order to refit the drums, if you haven't already.

Hi,

Cobble together this tool, using a 1/4" drive socket and suitable Allen key.

No more rounded corners on the adjuster.
