MG MGB Technical - Installing a Webasto

Background: '73 BGT about to be painted after 4 frustrating years of (so-called)professional bare-metal prepping, removal of thick bog,new doorskins ... you get the picture. The Webasto sits ready to construct, and the end result should be fantastic. I called in to see Peter Harvey in Sandwich (Kent) last year - the guy who has spent 40 years fitting Webastos. He showed me his workshop, and you couldn't get a more helpful guy - but he lives in the wrong country. I will certainly be in touch with Peter once we start the installation process, as there are so many details to understand and which are not really covered in the fitting manual. I'm also using a competent motor trimmer here in Queensland who is keen to learn the process.
I plan to take as many notes and photos as I can along the way, because from what I can see there is not much out there in the archives or on the interweb to help an amateur. Do BBS members think it would be useful to post a progress note as we go along, in case anyone else is going through the same difficult job? - or otherwise I might keep a file for transmission to anyone later. Just seeking views off the top of your heads!
PS - for instance, the manual calls for a specific screw to secure the wooden frame to the car roof : 19mm x 6 countersunk "Posi-Driv" Parker-alon self tapping screws. I can't find them among the kit, so of course have sent for a second set - but does anyone know what the "Parker-alon" bit refers to, and how critical it is??
Look forward to any thoughts. Regards, John.

'Parker-alon' sounds like something Wallace and Gromit might dream up. What does Peter Harvey say?

What you are looking for is a "Parker-Kalon" screw

I wouldn't reckon it would be critical to use this brand!

Mike, you're a genius! I faithfully copied the spelling from the Installation Manual, having never heard of them. Having read all the Parker-Kalon waffle (for waffle it is), I can see that you're right - get a good quality s/steel self-tapper, countersunk and 19mm x 6. I shall be off to the specialist hardware store in the morning. Thanks for taking the time to help. John.

Bunnings?
Mike Ellsmore

Probably! In an email this morning,R.S.Coachbuilts tell me it should be 3.5 x 20. So it mustn't be too critical. BTW, would you say the 20 is just the threaded length, not including c/sunk head?.John.

No countersunk fasteners are measured overall for length..Mike
Mike Ellsmore

Haha ... I know you mean "no - countersunk fasteners are measured overall for length", not "no countersunk fasteners are measured overall for length" ... thanks for that Mike. John.
