MG MGB Technical - Jet fell apart - unusual?
I had the nuisance of the jet in the front SU HIF coming apart yesterday. I was lucky in that I spotted the problem (the brass sleeve was being sucked up along with the piston/needle). Luckily I got it all apart at the roadside in the minutes before darkness fell and was able to press the brass section back into the plastic right-angled base. It's held last night and this morning (40 miles). Is this a faulty part or is the brass tube not locked in place and just needed reseating? I'll get a new jet but time and weather are against me today. |

A new one on me, FWIW. |

Definitely a faulty part - not only do they sometimes come apart at the base, the top insert in the tube also sometimes comes loose and goes up with the needle! Get a new one - note that front and back jets are handed & not interchangeable. |

Hi Folks: Had same issue with Moss HS4 jets several years ago, but they made good on them. The question for now, what is the best source for QUALITY new HS4 jets, Burlen, Moss, etc. Thanks: Rich Boris |

Thanks guys. Future archives searchers may find it useful to know that with hindsight the early signs were an untraceable intermittent high speed misfire caused by a lean mixture as the jet lifted (glad I didn't melt a piston) and an idle that has needed adjusting upwards weekly over the last month. |

The best source for quality fuel parts is Burlen. RAY |
