MG MGB Technical - MGB Rear Bushes

Hi all, the saga continues...

Trying to fit new poly bushes to the rear leaf springs, in particular the front eye. Have applied plenty of grease and lots of force (well, as much as I can muster with a sash clamp) and it just seems to compress the bush sideways, and it won't push into the eye at all. Phot attached.

Any suggestions?

Yes they are a pig but once you do one they are easy
I used a long bolt with enough thread or threaded bar.
As you tighten it up it starts to balloon out.
Use a large screwdriver and push it a bit where it balloons then tighten a bit more and then hit end with rubber mallet then repeat again and it will go in then just mallet it through.

Do the polybushes come with an outer sleeve? If not it looks like that part of the old bush is still in there; looking at pictures from when I replaced my bushes (with standard ones) there is only one layer of metal in the spring eye. Had to look, I don't really trust my memory. :)

Yes, there is a metal sleeve inside the eye. Well spotted Johan, thanks - new bushes pressed right in after that. Just need a new thumb now...
