MG MGB Technical - Moprod fuel pump any U.S. vendor sells/sold these?

Hello my fuel pump did on my 78 MGB. It looks like a solid state fuel pump that reads "Moprod" on the bottom with a red/black wires coming out the back. I searched the net but finding very little info on it.

Thanks James

James - That was the forerunner of the ECCO pumps made in New Zealand. They are presently carried by Victoria British. Cheers - Dave

Good fuel pump, but would be very good if the body was made out of metal instead of plastic.

Mine lasted for five years until the body cracked causing a fuel leak.

Though the solid state "points" still operated like new.

Don't buy one. My V8 came to me with one and worked OK for several years, then it started intermittently short-stroking and causing fuel starvation. Even though the electrics end is in the boot and I was able to get in there when it was doing it one time, nothing I did made any difference. After two or three bouts of this - and being stuck by the roadside until it started working again, I replaced it with a pukka SU. In recent weeks someone else on this or another forum has had exactly the same problem.

The Moprod is not strictly 'solid' state like the SU, a magnet closes and opens a mechanical reed switch, which drives a transistor which drives the solenoid.

Thanks everyone for the info,

Paul, Yesterday had to beat on the fuel pump cover to get it working again it makes a noise but does not pump. I've been having the exact problems you listed leaving me on the side of the road but restarting back up. It seems the pump can not keep up or intermittent. Thanks for the info!!

Garbage. I had one on my B and the plastic housing cracked. Chuck it as far as you can!
