MG MGB Technical - New Roof Roadster

Can anyone recommend a supplier of soft tops that are decent quality and fit properly around the side glass and rear studs? Seems its a bit of a lottery. I'm not after mohair or anything fancy. OE standard will do as I drive almost everywhere roof down. But I want it to fit properly when up on the rare times the car is caught out in the wet.
Cheers,
Glenn.

I'll be fitting it myself to my existing header BTW. (Did the last one 20 years ago).

Agree with you there, I've seen some horrors where you could put your hand through between raised drop-glass and top without touching the sides. The one that came with my roadster is a bottom of the range vinyl, it fits well, but I was planning up replacing it with OE vinyl when I restored it - until I saw some of them. So I left it, that was 30 years ago, and it's still doing the job it is supposed to.

The gutter should lie along the top of the glass, which allows the internal flap to lie flat against the glass inside. However even some that do that seem to have a much deeper flap than others, that looks as if one would have to duck one's head to see out. At least that can be trimmed back.

Someone elsewhere bought one from one of the usual suspects, but not even the studs fitted round the back, one side was different to the other. He was told 'That's how they are made' but refused to accept it. He had to drive all the way there from the South coast for them to try different ones till they found one that fitted.

Lol - a customer whose car we rebuilt accused me of putting the rear hood fixings in the wrong place until I pointed out that the hood he had was wrongly made!

MGOC claim that their hoods fit and I have had no problems fitting them.

Thanks guys.

I ended up ordering one from Don Hoods based on a combination of cost and good reviews on other classic forums. Will report back on quality and fit once it arrives.
