MG MGB Technical - One for Willy!
Willy do you have access to a Repco piston catalogue? I am clearing out unwanted parts and have a set of (very) low compression pistons. Repco numbers are RA2750X, and 175-9814R and they are +.020. No rings, very good condition and 18V type press fit pins. They may have been from a Sherpa or tractor ?? Thanks Colin ![]() |

Hi Colin
Nigel, you are so harsh, Colin was just being thoughtfull. Just a little history---Years ago Repco as it was known then split into two identities .-Repco became the shopfront style retail/trade outlet stores and the manufacturing side of things became ACL ACL and Repco base part numbers are the same I've had a look through the current ACL piston cat. and that number isn't there , so I guess it's obsolete Not sure at all what the second row of numbers are, on ACL pistons they are usually the position (top-centre-bot) of where to measure for skirt clearance followed by that clearance amount---but that doesn't tally up I'll investigate that---- This is the easiest link to the cat.---- If you're going through the lists , Morris, MG and Leyland are listed seperately The numerical listings are on page--259 http://mitsubishilinks.com/fsm/acl_pistonproducts_pp99.pdf |

I'm wondering if maybe the bottom number, -because it also has 020 after it , that that number might be for the ringset---??-----------but I can't see them in the catalogue either Just roughly -what bore size are these pistons, they're 20 up but 20 up on what. Cheers from down under Still hanging on Nigel willy |

Willy they came out of an MGB 1800 block which has been repurposed! Probably Sherpa? So 020 up on standard MGB. Colin |

Willy, you can't afford any more injuries. |

Colin,
I just saved the image to my PC and rotated it (with MS Office Picture Manager (2010!)) and then reposted it. I don't know why the photos are upside down, perhaps you had the phone upside down and if you post it from that device it remains upside down as it sees that as correct. If you saved the posted image to your device from the BBS it might have different properties to the original image and you can fool your phone/mobile device(?) into rotating that image and posting it on the BBS the right way up. How's that, not one technical word but still confusing, a job in IT beckons me and I can be harsh like those from IT. 🙃 |
