MG MGB Technical - Overdrive relay

I have a Lucas relay which is stamped 6RA 33302D 12v 2365. Is this suitable for use with my MK1 D-type overdrive?

It also has 5 spade terminals, one of which is a twin arrangement(C1). The others, all single spade, are marked C2, W1 and W2.

Thanks,

Nick.

Nick
Yes thats the correct one for the overdrive as it needs the 5 terminals to work.

Yellow goes to W1, black to W2, yellow/red to C1, and white to C2.

With the vacuum switch below it. I'd like to use that photo on my web site if I may, Ste, attributed of course.

Paul / Ste;

Sorry for not passing on my thanks for the clarifications to date on my original post, but I've just returned home from a week away on business.

I'm still unsure where the feed + other connections actually come from for the relay / vacuum switch - are they part of the main loom or the seperate o/drive loom? Or do they form part of another mini loom connected within the engine bay somewhere? Or maybe through from behind the dash?

Thanks,

Nick.

They are a mini loom on top of the overdrive loom from the box.

Just called Moss to order the mini-loom I need and drew a complete blank. They insisted the loom on the o/d itself did all I needed to connect up to the relay / vacuum switch and that the vacuum switch was on the g/box....
Couldn't even get them to acknowledge that there were components on the engine bulkhead......

Does anyone have the part number of the (cloth) loom I need?

Cheers,

Nick.

Can't see it in the Leyland Parts Catalogue but Moss Europe show it here as harness OD bulkhead, AHH7168! Item 4 http://www.moss-europe.co.uk/Shop/ViewProducts.aspx?PlateIndexID=178.

To be generous there is probably so little call for it that they have only ever been asked for the gearbox OD harness also listed.

Brown and Gammons also have both at http://www.ukmgparts.com/product.aspx?CID=A06AAB03-5EBC-49D9-A937-A6D8ADFCE6C1&SID=6B52FD93-20DD-4AC1-8A18-1D46D8F922C2&PID=c7d5ca8a-3895-4d01-b609-92f3e4e4fd1b

It's highly advisable to consult these online and paper catalogues before ringing up, so you know the part number before you order. It would be easy to end up with the wrong thing just going by a description.

Thanks Paul - at least the B&G item description gives you a clue what the application is.....
