MG MGB Technical - Parabolic Rear Springs
Has anyone had experiance[good or bad] with these springs and if bad why |

I fitted parabolic springs and Gaz dampers on a '70 B. Pro: less bump-shock. Smoother ride. Lees rear-wheel skipping round corners. Con: Can be tricky to get ride-height correct. You may need to use lowering blocks. Overall I think it was worth it. |

Fitted paras to my V8 roadster with Gaz Shocks . There are two types of shock -they have different placings for the adjuster knob -get both or you foul the exhaust . Then fitted a/tramp bars -very necessary with 185bhp . net result stable ,comfortable ride but more road noise coming up through body. Just about to fit lowering blocks |

I have the lowered springs with Polly Bushes, which gives me 14" from the centre of the hub up to the waistline I also fitted the Spax Kit and very disappointed with it (very little adjustment and still to hard) |

I fitted lowered parabolics to my 78 GT (converted to chrome bumpers). Height down to 13.5 and 14 inches at the rear, and tyres rubbing when loaded, (but also because I have wires on a standard steel wheel axle). I'm probably going to make extended shackles to raise her a little. The ride is better, but I suspect my telescopic dampers are too stiff. I'll try the lever arms again to see what that combination is like. David |

It is normally strongly recommended that if parabolics or single leaf springs are fitted then uprated tubulars are also fitted. The original multi-leaf springs and lever arms were a package and the friction in the springs was part of the damping. Remove that and keep the lever arms and you end up with less damping than before, and most people seem to strive for more damping, not less. |
