MG MGB Technical - Picture needed of carburetors
I have a 77 MGB that am returning back to original carburetors, they are twin SU HS4. Am having a problem figuring out how to run the fuel lines. If someone has a picture of how the fuel lines runs at the carbs and connect them. Would be appreciated. Thank you |

Chuck. Your North American Specification MGB would have had a single Zenith-Stromberg carb, not twin HS-4 carbs. The HS-4 was replaced by the HIF-4 carbs in the early 1970's. Do not know where you are getting your information from, but, the Bentley copy of the factory workshop manual, "The Complete Official MGB 1975-1980" would be worth investing in. Les |

When I got the 77 MGB back in 1998, it had them on it. I just took it as original equipment, anyway around 2001 I replaced them with a 2 barrel Weber and now am returning back to the way I got it. My Hayes Repair manual does not get in detail how to run the fuel line and I don't remember how took them off back than. Am looking for a picture of the carburetors with out air cleaners on. |

Chuck I have loaded a picture from a retired car of mine. 1968 MGB with HS4 carbs the original set up had metal braded pipes and 2 clips bolted to the carby mounts to hold the fuel line between carbies. I find the usa moss site a bit useless. The fuel lines are on page 100 of the Moss USA site pdf but hard to make any sense out of if you do not know the set up. Try page 128 of the full pdf file from Moss UK/ Europe it is much clearer showing the carbies. Ken

The other end. That pressure reducer is now history, it was dangerous. the OE pipe was braided and did a right angle to the T on the rear carb. I got that mouse larder cleared out as well :-) |

FWIW- At Moss.com, you can call up the MGB carb page and see a part by part location for those carbs. Very helpful when you're scratching your head. Be sure to use port, not manifold vac!Cheers, Vem |
