G Heath, Most auto glass shops in the states have a set up to inject sealer in between the glass and the gasket, or between the body and the gasket. So, you might see if your glass shops have it also. There is a similar squeeze tube version of it sold in auto parts stores, but I doubt it works as well. However, before you try that, make sure the leak is between the glass and the hatch rather than between the hatch and the body. Charley |

Short of removing the glass and rubber and resealing with the original non-setting black stuff (not the adhesive they use on modern cars) you could try something like Comma Seak'n'Seal http://www.thompsons-car-essentials.co.uk/erol.html#239866x0&&http%3A%252F%252Fwww.google.co.uk%252Fsearch%3Fhl%3Den%26q%3Dcomma+seak+and+seal%26meta%3D This penetrates before it goes sticky, but never completely hardens. Works 'tween glass and rubber and rubber and body or frame just the same. |

Hi all i have had an hose on the car and can not see any water comeing in but if i leave a rag in the back for a few days i can wring it out. it just looks like condensation on the back window does anyone know where i can get the tail gate seals from i have purchased the door and quarter light seals just in case thay are leaking tanks Garry |

Personally I would find out where it was coming from before spending any money, it could be wasted, you are talking £25 plus to replace both, and the upper one is a beggar. They will be available from all the usual suspects, just browse for MGB spares on Google. |

Tanks for all your help i will keep looking Garry |

Garry, Another possible entry point is the holes into which the badges are fitted. Over time these can allow moisture to enter the rear of the car and it may be worth a look to see if they are leaking at all. Condensation is another matter and there may be water elsewhere in the car which is condensing on the rear window thus giving the impression of leakage. This one can be a real pain to track down. One solution is simply to put a heater there for a while and see if this dries it out. Normally though condensation appears on more than just one piece of glass. By the way welcome to the fascinating / frustrating world of MG ownership. Cheers , Pete. |

Cheers pete i know what you mean about frustrating world of MG ownership. I have got 2 mgbgts and thay seem to have got the same prob i will keep looking and check the badges i am new to mgs and still learning but it seems the hard way.on one i have found the footwells wet wich i think is coming from the bulkhead so i will dry it out and see if it helps Cheers Garry |

GARRY;; Check the drain tube from the air intake. Bet it's plugged. You can poke a wire up through the drain pipe knob and duck beacuse its full of gunk and sludge. Sandy |

Hi sandy i have checked the drain hole and it is perfectly clear thats why i think it is comeing through the bulkhead i have noticed that there is no bonnit seal so i have just purchased a new seal (I think i should have invest in a rubber factory) cheers Garry |

Good point about the badges, could also be the release catch, depends which bit of the cloth gets wet first. It's easier to poke a bit of dowel *down* through the drain tube, that way you don't get a sleeve full of said gunge and bird droppings :o) Without a bonnet seal it can be running through the gap between the rear and side channels, and getting through the pedal cover seal if the drivers side, or blanking plate if the other. Can also be the wiper spindles, washer nozzles, and past a defective front screen seal of course. |

Hi paul thanks for the advice my new bonnet seal arived today i will be fitting it tomorrow i think if it gets much moor water in i will need to invest in a snorkel my problem is i can only get one car in my garage and i am stuck with a morgan kit car in it tilli am able to put it on ebay so if anyone wants one let me know it just wants finishing (I have lost interest in it besides i prefer tin to play with) thanks Garry |
