MG MGB Technical - Replacement nuts and bolts
Where is the best place to get replacement nuts and bolts for my 73 MGB GT? I have replaced a few parts and don't want to put old nuts and bolts on because some have become really rusty. |

Google 'nuts and bolts'. |

You will need mainly UNF. There is a list in Lindsay Porters Guide to Restoration. Go along to an Auto Jumble, there's a huge one at The National Classic Car Show. http://www.necclassicmotorshow.com/ |

Try Namrick in Shoreham. They keep a good stock and will usually supply within 24 hours. Goodle Namrick Bob Marshall |

Hi M.D.Rice,Put a wire brush in a drill chuck or lathe and see how many you can clean up. the origonals are far superior to any you can buy. John C, |

The £17 bag might be good value, otherwise be prepared for costs to rack up if you buy fasteners etc in small quantities at shows. A degrease ( eg in cheap thinners ) and then a soak in vinegar follwed by wire brushing will clean up rusty fasteners - but it can't replace any lost zinc plating, so ok for any that are out of sight &/or get painted but maybe not for any unpainted on view if you're fussy. And yes, originals were good quality, some generally available replacements aren't. |
