MG MGB Technical - Ride height

After twice Knocking my exhaust off, I need to do something to stop it happening again, my car sits at the front 13" R/H/F and 13.5" L/H/F. and 14.5" on both rears, and this is with standard front springs, and I have 4"ground clearance on the exhaust center box, which is what keeps getting knocked off, I was reading that with some suplex 264381 front springs, the front ride height is 15", have any of you Gentlemen got these fitted to your car, if so what is your ride height, other options is to fit a sports exhaust with no center box but a large rear silencer, but I don't want it to be to noisy, ( I measured my ride height the center of the wheel to the bottom of the chrome strip, and its a 1969 Roadster 1800cc) Thanks A.T

I have only wheelarch measurements, at the rear it should be 290mm +/- 10. At the front, the wishbones should be level.
You don't say what tyres you have, tyre profile has a big influence too.
Centre box makes very little difference other than damping the odd resonance. Most people with just the original GEX3429 rear silencer find the tone very acceptable, and the extra ground clearance wonderful.

Didn't get as far as knocking mine off, but I got fed up bottoming and grounding when touring fully laden so I extended the rear shackles http://www.mgb-stuff.org.uk/suspensiontext.htm#extend

Thank you Gentlemen, for your reply's, that was interesting about the exhaust rear silencer only not making much difference to the noise, and Paul altering the rear shackles is something I had not thought about but an excellent idea, thank you both

I use the bomb type centre box. It only gives a little extra clearance but it does not have a "flat" front. It is gently curved so, if it does ground it slides over the obstacle as opposed to being pulled off. Fitted after the same experience as you, Andy!

Michael, What was the noise level like with the bomb type center box you fitted,
