MG MGB Technical - Roadster Boot lid badges
Can anyone help me with an accurate positioning for the early type B badges on the boot lid? I have a boot lid with no holes in it!! Colin |

On my 1967 roadster, it's 13 7/8 inches from the "top" of the boot lid to the top of the "M-G-B" badge and 15 5/16 to the top of the octagonal one. Doug |

Colin Depends when you need them, i could take a template from my spare for you if you want, but it may be a week or two Ste |

Don't do it!! The holes for the boot badges are usually a source of water leaks in the boot... |

Seal the holes with silicon on both sides to prevent leaks. Before you drill place some light coloured tape and mark the hole position on that. Then drill through the tape and the metal. The tape stops the drill "wandering" and makes it easier to keep it in place. Remove the tape , clean the holes , paint with primer and let dry. Place a dot of sealant around each hole to form a sort of dam on the outer side and fix the badges in place. Seal fully from the inside with additional silicon and allow to dry. Pete. |

Chris Colin is building a period race car so its not an issue about keeping it watertight but in one piece and on the road :-) Ste |

Thanks Ste, no trouble keeping it on the road, at least until the engine is running! It is going for paint in about 3 weeks, so no panic yet. Colin |
