MG MGB Technical - Sheared Caliper Bleed Nipple

Anyone got a trick to remove a sheared brake nipple. I've tried plusgas, heat and attacking it with an impact screwdriver with a cross head bit, didn't move a sheet of bronco.

Been there, done that. I did eventually get it out by drilling it out working up bit by bit (pun not intended) in drill sizes which gave me the opportunity to correct the line with each one, not having a pillar drill. However I just nicked the threads on one side, which I wasn't happy about, so I ended up replacing them.

You may have better luck with one or more left-hand drill bits, which tend to unscrew it, together with the heat of drilling working through from the middle of the nipple to the threads.

Easy out?

Don't use an E-Z out! If it breaks off inside the bleed nipple, you're in for real trouble as the E-Z out is made from very tough steel and is a bear to drill out. As Paul mentioned, use left handed drill bits. Most hardware stores carry them for very little money. Start with a small bit and work your way up in size until the broken bleeder finally unscrews with the force of the drill bit. RAY

Thanks for the advice all. I couldn't get any left handed drill bits, so I drilled it out normally, then tapped the thread. I didn't like the look of my work so I've bought a caliper from my local Moss store.
With the caliper off I've decided to renew the flexible pipes. At Moss they do a two front and one rear steel braided pipe kit for £31. When I asked for this they said it was out of stock, but had them individually at £18 each!! After a bit of whine they dropped it to £15 each.

Sounds like my experience. For what was supposed to be just the pipe on the drivers side, I ended up changing the passenger side (nut stuck to the pipe) as well as both calipers and hoses for Teflon braided as my supplier didn't have standard. Whilst in theory the calipers should be the same, I wasn't happy about changing just one in case it resulted in imbalance. As it is the car now very occasional pulls slightly to the left, which is annoying seeing as how there was nothing wrong with the braking before, and I'd already changed them once.
