MG MGB Technical - Sound deadening
Hi guys After repairing some of the 77 BGT's floor I need to source the sound deadening/rust preventative that is spread all over the inside front and rear "fluted" floor. Its about 1/4" thick at its deepest ( In a recessed "flute") very black and like smooth bitumen. I remember it either sticks like toffee or comes up in large chunks. Anyone know a UK supplier and prices ? Do I/should I remove all of the "old" stuff first then re-apply new ? This would be an awful waste and time consuming. Any comments appreciated |

The tar like floor covering came in a kit that fas cut to fit all the recess' in the floor board. Many hot-rod shops have sound proofing sheets that have an adhesive on one side. They are also considered heat reflective. Sandy |

I think I have seen a picture of the original tarry stuff shaped to fit the flutes somewhere, but can't find it now. I just got some cheap felt-like stuff, cut it into strips and glued it down. Been there 20 years now. It needs to be about as thick as the flutes are deep or you will wear the carpet along the edges of the flutes. |

Moss carries the kit. If you have a pre '68 car, some minor cutting is required. RAY |

The Roadster Factory also carries the sound deadner. |
