MG MGB Technical - sound proofing felt

'72 Roadster - I have some sound proofing felt to place under the carpets on the floor and various other interior surfaces. The felt has a latex layer on one side. My question is "which side is up"? Is the latex there to stop moisture, therefore it should be at the bottom against the bodywork? Or is it there to bind the surface so that carpet movement doesn't lift/wear the felt, and therefore should be at the top?
My apologies if the question appears naff but as you can see I've probably thought about it too much!

Richard,
I take it there's no markings to help with the decision! Perhaps the best person to answer your question is the supplier.

I know you're all dying to know the answer to this question!!
I emailed the supplier and they recommend gluing the felt to the metalwork, leaving the latex surface upwards.

Richard,

The Mk1s came from the factory with felt stuck to the floor - it was a perfect rust trap. The best advice for our cars is to emulate RR and stick several layers of felt together. ... and no latex anywhere. It traps water.

I used a product called "Fatmat" (a Dynamat knockoff) that has heavy foil on one side and a thick sticky gooey layer of sound deadener on the other.

Nothing to absorb moisture and the results are outstanding.

The GT is very quiet at highway speeds.

Rammat is a bargain per square foot cost, thicker than Dynamat. I use it everywhere to give the old MGB that Rolls Royce quiet. Vem
