MG MGB Technical - Speedo connection

Hello,

Quite a simple one, but I have no idea where the connection for the speedometer goes to?

Many thanks,

Alex,

If you have the speedo cable, look at the trans end of the cable to see what the connection looks like. Then, look under the car close to the rear end of the transmission (actually I think on the OD unit since you have that) to find the part that the cable would screw onto. It may or may not have a 90 degree adapter on the trans end.

It must be after the o/d , its looking at road wheel rotation. On my csr its on the offside and has the right angle adaptor. But not the same transmission as yours I know aome owners use a longer cable and run it so it dosesnt need the adaptor, I'm on my 3rd one.

It's near the front of the gearbox extension tube on non-OD gearboxes just in front of the removable cross-member, or right at the back of the OD just ahead of where the prop-shaft flange is, on the right-hand side. According to the Parts Catalogue all cars originally had the right-angle drive at the gearbox end as it makes things neater for the cable. But neither of my cars have one, presumably having longer cables that describe an acceptable curve instead.
