MG MGB Technical - Spicer U Joint
What is Spicer's part number for the U Joint they supply for the MGB? |
Gene Ohlman |
I'm sending this back to the top in hopes that somebody can answer the question. I really don't want to use a non-original equipment part when the genuine article is still available new. |

Gene, In the Neapco u-joint catalog the MGB numper is 1-0300. The Neapco to Spicer cross reference shows Spicer 5-101X and 5-102X as replacements for Neapco 1-0300. www.neapco.com/pdf/2005universaljointcatalog.pdf Clifton |

Clifton- Terrific, thanks! How can I find out the difference between the Spicer 5-101X and the Spicer 5-102X? Which was the one used in the MGB? |
Gene Ohlman |
Gene its most probably as simple as with or without a grease nipple. MG has grease nipples. |
DENIS4 |
Gene, Denis is probably right, I assume the same since both numbers are lised as a fit, but I couldn't locate a Spicer parts cross reference and came in the back door to get Spicer numbers. A Spicer parts dealer should be able to tell you if the grease fitting is the only difference. Clifton |

I have a brand new Hardy Spicer U-joint in the box. It has a sticker with HS194 on it. The Moss part number, 268-060 is on another sticker, along with the BMC part number GUJ115. It does come with a zerk fitting for lubrication. Hope this helps! |

Paul's right. Same numbers on my boxes here. Perhaps the confusion is Spicer vs. Hardy-Spicer (British). |
