MG MGB Technical - steering rack lube
shafts are dry under gaitor and after reading posts have decided to remove the 2 bolts on top of rack and fill from there. my 79 doesnt have the dipple they talk about in manual. some say 15/50 syn and some say 90 gear oil but is that 75/ 90 hypoid? thanks DOUG |

John Twist says 90 wt, and I believe the 75-90 will fill the bill. I use the multi vis syn Redline 75-90 as I've installed the roller needles on the trunnions and love that power steering feel. I found it easier to fill from the gaitor-less spitting. Am told new Moss racks come pregreased and require no further 90 wt filling. Cheers, Vem |

thanks vem, the rack was bone dry . it says 1/3 pt but i dont see how it could be enough for a completly dry rack. thanks DOUG |

Are there any reviews on the new Moss racks? Pat |

Patrick, check out recent threads regarding these racks. Some say they steer harder. |

Robert, Thanks - will do. It's time to replace the rack seals. If it all has to be disassembled anyway, might be time to replace more. '73BGT Pat |
