MG MGB Technical - straight 30 oil

Hi Guys

Im running a new motor in and have done 200 miles using straight 30 oil,
how many miles would you do before changing the oil to 20/50?

Cheers Pete

30W isn't the best oil for breaking in an engine, so changing it out now would be a good idea. When first starting a rebuilt engine, proper break in oil should be used and changed after 500 miles. RAY

Hi Pete

You should really ask the engine builder. Are you giving it some stick to help it bed in?

Hi Peter

Ive built the engine and yes giving it loads of stick. straight 30 seems to be a popular choice for running in. just wondering wheather to leave it in for however long it takes to run in.

Hi Pete

It should be run in by now. The main running in is done very rapidly if the engine is worked. You may as well move on to your chosen oil.
