MG MGB Technical - Strengthened rocker pedestals
Do the strengthened pedestals sold by various people really have any effect or are they just a gimmick? |

For extended high RPM use they might be, but for anything besides that they would only be good for bragging rights. RAY |

Hi David, we do not use the strengthened pillars even on race engines, we haven't needed to. Unless someone can come along with slow motion strobe video showing me horrendous flex! The pedestals to avoid are old ones off early B series (pre MGB) with ally pedestals, these are horrible for flex and wear and most MGA folk dump em for the MGB ones. Peter |

Peter and Ray, thanks for the info - confirmed what I suspected, probably put the money saved towards some roller rockers.... Peter - head arrived safely and now waiting for me to get around to fitting.. |

Hi David It can be a ball ache fitting roller rockers, it may be best to stick with what you have. Peter |
