MG MGB Technical - SU carb linkages

There are linkages between the SU HIF carbs. One links the throttle the other links the choke. At each end of these likages are clamp bolts and nuts. What size are they? I suspect it ia a BA size but I am not sure.

Thanks,

David, I have just adjusted mine, 5/16th AF seemed to fit OK.

That is strange. I am sure I tried my 5/16 open ended spanner first and it would not fit. I them tried metric and 8mm was too small and 9mm was too big. 5/16" is close to 8mm being 7.94mm. I don't have any BA spanners to try. I had thought that if it was a BA size I might by one.

Just found this site:

http://www.sat.dundee.ac.uk/~psc/spanner_jaw.html

From the table there I suspect it is 2BA or 3/16 BSF.

Most of the SU fasteners are 2BA. I am not sure about the HS and HIF, but the old H carbs had 3/16 BSW screws that held the vacuum chamber in place. Cheers - Dave

David if I remember correctly I think my 11/32 AF spanner worked. It's an odd size but I do have that size spanner in a small set of wrenches.
