MG MGB Technical - Tailgate badge positioning
Hi, Tried to find some info on the forum. However, nothing I can see of interest regarding the positioning of the holes for the badges of a 1972 Gt (on a later tailgate!). Holes welded up. Any help re: positioning/measurements of the holes. Ta in advance. Iwan |

The short-lived octagon on the right and 'MGB' on the left, I presume, from 1970 to 1973? |

Hi, yes the octagon on the right above the petrol filler cap and the mg and b on the left. Lots of holes. Any guidance would be appreciated. Ta |

Sorry, I have the later single badge on the right. I mentioned it in case someone read it and thought "Ooh, that's what I've got". |

Same problem as I have. When I had a new tailgate fitted ages ago, the 'restorers' fitted the badges the wrong way round, with BGT on the left and octagon on the right - turns out they'd copied another car, also wrong. I got them to fill the holes and I'd do it properly later, but I never found any dimensional info for proper alignment. Anyone here got a recessed grille 'BGT they can take some measurements off? |

My old '72 had the BGTin large script, on the left and octagon right. All the holes were punched so I assumed that was how it was. |

Allan, I think I'm getting my left and rights mixed up. I remember at the time I checked it against a book of contemporary road tests and whichever way round the garage had them, the pictures in the book showed otherwise! I had a quick trawl and found this pic to confirm your orientation...
