MG MGB Technical - tyres for MGB 15' wheels
Have just acquired some nice 15" x 5 1/2" chrome wires for my B. What size tyre is suggested to give adequate clearance from the wheel arch ? |

I have run 15" wheels on a lot of my Bs & 185/65/15 is what rides the best. I have run 205/60/15 on a cb B & thay were tight & would rud on a real HARD turn |

I use 195/65/15 with no problems at all. Ray |

185/15-15 is a perfect size for the B! |

R.W. According to a tire size calculator program you must chosse 185/65x15 with a diff. of only 1.2% with original size. Cheers, JGC |

RW- P195/60R15 gives a rolling radius that keeps your speedometer reasonably accurate. You'd be wise to mount a Panhard rod to prevent rubbing while cornering hard, though. |

I didn't know you could get 15.5. Dayton? Anyway I using 15 by 6 inch minilite replicas 24+ offset and 195 by 60 XM1 michelin tyres. Standard guards. Some very minor rubbing marks on the inside right arch. As you know MGB axles have an offset relative to the body. It's the body , not the axle. Can be up to half an inch. I am going to get a panhard rod, because they are supposed to be a huge improvement however I not been using one with these tyres for about three years now. |
