MG MGB Technical - Voltage Stabilizer
I'm in the final stages of completing a four year restoration and upgrade of my 1979 MGB. One of the upgrades is a new wiring harness. I'm in the testing stages now. I noticed a lack of change in my fuel and temperature gauges when I applied power to this part of the circuit. I measured the voltage to the stabilizer input (B) and out put (I). The input was 12vdc and output variable on the meter. I reality it might be 0 based on the type of meter. Questions: 1. What should the output be? 2. Is there another measure of the effectiveness or functioning of the stabilizer other than output voltage? 3. Has anyone used the electronic stabilizer that Moss sells? If so how did it work? Thank You, Dick Field |

have look at Paul Hunt's excellent web site mgb-stuff.org.uk http://www.mgb-stuff.org.uk/electricstext1.htm#stabiliser |

The voltage stabiliser is a "make and break" device which is intended to produce, on average, 10 volts. It is also position sensitive, so make sure up is up! I've made several electronic stabilisers and all have worked perfectly. |
