MG MGB Technical - Washer pump

Where is the electric washer pump mounted on 1976 on cars please?

Does it have a washer 'box' or a bag? The former were usually in a cradle with the pump mounted on the side at the back of the engine compartment. On some at least with the bag near the front of the engine compartment the pump was mounted on the firewall on the same side, below where the remote servo would be.

Moss list the bag being introduced from 1974 onwards (GHN/D5 321699) & electric pump from Sep 1976 (GHN/D5 410001). The electric washer pump is mounted using captive nuts on the firewall just below the rear air filter as per the attached.

Very nice Charles.

So much easier to see when the car is clean and a lighter paint colour.

What's that pipe(?) sticking up?
Nigel Atkins

Nigel,
I took that photo last March as i was putting everything back under the bonnet following a refurb. The pipe sticking up is for the heater pipe over the top of the rocker box. When i refilled the coolant i poured the coolant in there before connecting up to the thermostat cover. (All but about 11/2 pints). Much quicker than pouring in over the thermostat as the later MGBs are a pain to top up as no radiator cap . Cheers, Charles
