MG MGB Technical - window rattle

have a rattle in both doors when going over the bumps in the city. Has anyone found a way toquiet down the window regulators in the doors? I have put it down or up and it still rattles. I tried holding the window when up but it still rattles. Anyone have a fix? thanks DOUG

Take the cards off and feel around to see where the rattle is. Neither of mine have ever done it so it's not an 'undocumented feature'. In fact it may not even be the regulator mechanism, if it still does it while you are actually winding the window up slowly. Could be loose on the door, or maybe even loose bits lying in the bottom of the door, door opening and locking mechanisms, etc.

Doug - Depending on the year of your car, it could be the door lock rod, rather than the window. I have a similar rattle in the driver's side door in our 66 MGB that I traced down to that rod. I have not spent enough time to get it fixed yet, so it comes and goes on its own. Cheers - Dave

Hi,

I had a rattle like that years ago , in a VW Golf. It was one of the rods in the door. Fixed with a piece of thick felt glue in a strategic position, which stopped to rod movement.

thanks for the help. I will try removing the panel and looking around. Doug

In some places you can buy insulation foam in tube fashion, if it is suitably small one could wrap this around rods? Mike
