MG MGB Technical - wiper blades
At the start of this summer I replaced my wiper blades, with some I bought from moss, and the first time I used them was in September when I was on holiday, they did not clean the screen as good as the ones I took off, which were the original ones from new, does anyone know where I can buy some good quality wiper blades for my 1969 roadster in the UK,Thanks |

"they did not clean the screen as good as the ones I took off, which were the original ones from new" Jeez! Having said that I last replaced the roadster ones 26 years ago, but only as part of a restoration, not because they needed it. I used RainX many years ago, and that allows rain water to bead and run off cleanly, so I rarely need the wipers anyway in light rain. Mind you, I've replaced the screen twice since then, and it still beads and runs off ... |

I buy replacement rubber inserts from Halfords. They can be cut to size and seem to work well. Cheaper too. http://www.halfords.com/motoring/bulbs-blades-batteries/wiper-blades/halfords-wiper-blade-refill-r03-16 |

Andy, go and get a set of Bosch wiper blades, they are the best available. Don't be ripped off at Hal**ds, go to a local motor factors and wear a pair of dirty overalls and be cheeky and ask for a discount. regards John |

I noticed the same issue. I looked for the original Tex brand and they are only available from one source in the US but should be available in the U.K. easily. Also tried cutting replacement blades down but Napa no longer offers the proper type. However, one of the best pieces of advice which you might try is to make sure the blade rests exactly perpendicular to the windscreen. When I fixed mine they wiped much better. Ditto on RainX. HTH |

We now live in the land of rain and its an essential here. :) |

Two things, 1 The Tex design don't seem good at applying even pressure, particularly on a GT. I prefer the Trico design. 2 The Tex rubber (like most rubber items) is useless. I too go for the replacement rubber strips from Motor factors, the shape and the composition of the rubber is far superior to the Tex stuff. |
