MG MGB Technical - WTB - Cant rail covers, BGT.

Can anyone point me towards a source for either new or secondhand cant rail covers? - I think there were 3 (2 sides + front rail), unfortunately mine were discarded by an overzealous motor trimmer.
I could make something up to do the job, but am happy to pay for replacements and cover them with new material. With thanks ... John.

Someone has been trying to get hold of these in the MGOC mag for months. A pal got some from a dismantler here in the UK, but I didn't see what they looked like. Drawings in various places do indicate they are shaped covers. But as far as I can tell on my 75 it is nothing more than sticky-backed plastic stuck to the metal frame of the roof.

Thanks Paul - I had a look at mine before they went missing; and yes, they were shaped lengths of plastic, hooking over the top and then stuck to the cant rail, and being covered in the thin headlining material. If they're that scarce (and I guess no-one is offering copies) then I could fashion something to do the job. They really only serve to smooth out all the weld marks, seams and general messiness of the bare metal cant rail.Regards, John.

JP - I'm in the middle of a restoration of my GT ('78 model). I managed to remove the cant rails without damaging them. They are moulded in one piece, not covered in material. They have a textured finish which matches the grey vinyl material on the 'C' post trim cards. Thickness of the cant rail cover is .035". See attached photos for more detail.

They are fragile. Mine were cracked in several places so I covered them in the same fabric as the C pillar trim.

G'day Brian - thanks for the extremely helpful photos. they confirm my recollection but put more detail on it. Since these covers appear to be like hens'teeth, it's starting to look as though we'll be making something up to suit. The motor trimmer who helped me with the new Webasto installation will probably have no trouble fashioning some finishing pieces to cover the cant rail area. I did read the earlier posts, but don't favour the methods recommended there.
BTW Brian, I haven't forgotten your offer of a cup of tea and a chat when we visit Chester - we retire at the end of this year, and will be making some firm plans for the UK. Regards, John.
