MG MGF Technical - 17' Alloys

Hi, im looking for a set of alloy wheels for my car, also is it possible for a 215/40/17 wheel to fit onto a 7" rim?? Any help would be greatly appreiciated. also what of set is best for these cars? as the std 16" rim has an ofset of 28mm and most of the 17" ones have an ofset of 38mm.
Cheers

Thanks to very helpfull advice from the lads on here, just fitted 17s to my F.
The alloys i got were designed for the 95.25 stud pattern on the F, and have the 38mm ofset.
However the wheels have 205s on, dont know about 215s!.
Look FANTASTIC, but might need to think about lowering the suspenders, for the full effect!.

195s and 205s fit nicely on 6" rims so I'm sure 215s are fine on 7" - whether you will have the clearance on full lock is another question!

I guess best to get an old 215/40/17 from a tyre centre and see if its fits when i get a set of 17" rims. There are a couple sets on Ebay, Hope to get a set soon, how does the car handle or feel with a 38mm ofset?? is it better? not just from a traction point of view? I will let you guys know if a 215 fits ok when i try, Regards matt

I've just bought a set of alloys from Ebay.. There the Axis spiders, they do come with a 38offset but the pcd is right for the car.. They look really great.. I'm running the 205/40/17s but it DOES need lowereing..

They where only £450inc vat

Would Agree,........just got the same wheels, with upgrade tyres, Proxes t1-s, £500.

Would also agree, needs to to sit a little lower!.

Matt, if you give me your email add, will send some pics with wheels fitted on my F, to give you some ideas.

Mark,

I've also had my eye on the spiders on ebay and would be very interested to see pics of them fitted to an F, so if you could email me some, i'd appreciate it. Cheers

Correct offset for 7.5" X 17" rims is 25mm, this retains all the steering characteristics and allows 215 x40 x17 rear tyres and 205 x 40 x 17 front tyres and allows for arch clearance if the car is lowered,HTH.
