MG MGF Technical - 30A fuse blows everytime i start engine.
Just lately everytime i want to start my mgf i have to change the outside 30A fuse in the box under the bonnet.I have checked the wiring which looks ok and i have replaced the starter motor with a brand new one. This seemed to solve the problem for about 4 start ups and then i was back to changing fuses. Can anyone help me? |

can you be more precise than "outside". What does this fuse protect/ what is its fuse number? |

Will, could only be one of the MEMS fuses http://www.mgfcar.de/fuse/Fuse3.jpg http://www.mgfcar.de/schedules/sb8.jpg |

I know you said you checked the wiring, but have you checked for breaks and shorts in the area of the boot hinge? This is a known trouble spot for strange symptoms. Chris |

Ive looked at Dieters diagram and its F7(30A) that keeps blowing, the car runs perfect when it has blown until i stop it and try to start it again. |

Hmm, Fuse 7 appears to go to the horn (according to the fusebox info), but on the MEMS page, Dieter has "corrected" the VVC to show 30A Fuse 1 as Fuse 7. If it is the fuse marked in the diagrams as Fuse 1/7 then the symptoms would match. In this case it is wholly possible that the wiring to the Lamda sensor has worn/burnt thru and during driving it is shakeing and shorting - this will have no ill effects on the engine, but when the starter is tried again it will not work. Take the engine cover off and inspect the wires leading to the sensor in the exhaust pipe. |

Try this --- www.mininova.org/tor/901849 ----- for a download of the RAVE manual, it is spot on for wiring diagrams once you have found the right one |
