MG MGF Technical - 4 Year Service

Dear all, my Yr2000 VVC MGF is due to have it's four year service, it has done approx 25K.

Could anyone tell me what this service involves and what checks are made as standard?

Looking in the archives a dealer will charge approx £200 for a 4 year service

I have today telephoned MG Mechanical Services in Manchester recommended on the bbs garage page, and they have quoted £120. How come there is so much difference in price?

Hope someone can enlighten me, as i am struggling to find a garage, and i don't particularly want to go to my dealer in warrington, i have heard bad rumours.

Hi Andrea,
I have the same problem. The most fair price and best service recommended was just too far to travel. All your bad rumours must have come from people who had bad service at their local dealerships. This I have had, BIG TIME. So I am with you.
PLEASE can anybody help us both???????

Hi Andrea,
Have you thought about the 4yr. 60k service. VERY VERY
expense due to the mid-engined MGF needing a cambelt change. Prices from a very MG friendly garage on the south coast was 399 pounds. Do ask your local Mg dealer his prices. "sky high".

Chris, that is another year down the line yet...might have had a substantially pay increase by then.....hopefully.

Just wanted to know why there such a difference in price, and what they are actually supposed to do on a 4yr service.

oil+filter change
coolant change
brake fluid change
may also be necessary to change some brake hoses, and pads, and maybe brake disks.
