MG MGF Technical - Aerial Removal
Does anyone know how to take off the rear aerial off the car. I have tried but i think it is ceased. What size spanner do i need is it the 9mm nut that needs to be undone or the big black part. Right hand or left hand thread ? |

It screws in conventionally Bill, so to remove, rotate the arial anti-clockwise. Sounds as though the thread may have corroded. Try some penetrating oil (WD40 or similar) and leave overnight and try again. |

Rob What part of the Aerial should i be undoing, it is one of them Mike Satur stubby aerials. Is it the big black part with two sides striaghtened so you can get a spanner (around 15mm) on it ? or is it the 9mm nuts ? |

Are you sure that the aerial doesn't have the security grub screws still in place? I think that the MS one is the same sas the MGF centre model, which I have, and this has grub screws to prevent theft - the fitting instructions also recommended using loctite on the threads, for the same purpose |

No grub screws, this is an older type of Aerial, we got it at Silverstone 2001 |

Bill The two flat sides (if I remember correctly) remove the arial whip from the base. The large nut removes the whole unit - but you also then need to get inside the engine compartment to hold the underside section. Ted |
