MG MGF Technical - Aerodynamic detail
given the importance of aerodynamic attention to detail, how much of this is disturbed by fixing on an MG boot rack. |

Not sure about the aerodynamic effects but I took mine off as the wind whistles through it and thought it was annoying. I would imagine that it obviously had a detremental effect on the aerodynamics but are you going to notice the difference? Did like the look of it though. Chris |

I thought that the general consensus was that there was very little air flow over the rear of the car. Hence why spoilers were considered more decoration than functional. Don't know, anyone put their car in a wind tunnel? |

I find that having luggage on my boot rack when fitted seems to make the car feel more stable. Probably slows the car down though. Bruce |

I bought one, but have never actually used it because I am scared of bending the boot lid. Has anyone had this happen? Paul |

Paul, Yes - but it is caused by overtightening the clamps, so if you are careful it shouldn't be a problem. Scarlet has a slight camber in the bootlid due to the luggage rack, i have seen worse examples though. Caution when fitting is the watchword SF |

Aerodinamic effects are not a big issue, because there you've got depressurized air going over... My former boot bent a little bit on the first time, because I overtight the bolts. The last time I used it I did the opposite I let the right side loose and after 300km it moved and almost fell off the back with all the luggage. That's what you get after driving 300 km at over 90mph on country roads... :) Now I've got a new boot after a small accident. Cheer, Valter. |
