MG MGF Technical - Alarm triggers as soon as I lock
Got back from lunch today and as soon as I locked using the blipper, the alarm immediately sounds. Same happens when I use the key. All doors, bonnet, boot etc are shut properly. Have I blown a fuse, Has something shorted? Need some urgent advice on this one as my F is currently sat in the car park at work unlocked :-0 Jim |

Wiring or the door locking mechanism broken perhaps? More people have suffered from this problem recently. I think I remember most of them had a door locking mechanism changed. Johan |

Ok panic over. Checked the fuses and the one controlling the clock, radio and interior lights had blown. I've replaced this and the alarm now seems to be fine. Don't know why this fuse would have affected the alarm though. Weird. Jim |

>one controlling the clock, radio and interior lights had blown Recommend to check the wiring behind the radio. This is almost the main failure option. Some sharp metal edges behind there. Current best pictures due to checking are (unfortunately) on SF recovery site. http://www.sfforever.co.uk/ >> The Rebuild << |

happened to me also. fuse would blow going over a bump. wiring in boot (or a short with boot light) was to blame. |

Dieter, you're right. The fuse went again at the weekend. I had to hard-wire in a new CD Tuner head-unit at Christmas (due to the previous owner butchering the connectors). When I took the head-unit out to check on Sunday, one of the wires had become exposed and was rubbing against the metal frame. I've bandaged it up with plenty of insulating tape, and, so far so good!
