MG MGF Technical - Am I normal ?
2 things have been making me think about my MGF (T Reg '99 VVC)which I have never seen mentioned but have existed since the car was bought 4 years ago and this seems the right channel to check. 1. The wipers don't activate automatically when you use the washer fluid. 2. The mirror glass in the door mirrors are permanently hot whatever the weather (which has been a real plus in the current climate). Neither a problem - just curious |

1 yes 2 yes On my previous cars I often complained that I could not give the screen a good soaking before turning on the wipers, often resulting in a thick muddy sludge being spread around. Now I can flood the screen and then wipe - less chance of damaging the glass. Mirror glass getting heated all the time seems a bit silly to me as well. It was pointed out to me that it couldn't be linked to the heated rear window as in most other cars for very obvious (but not initially to me) reasons. |

Jon, there is a solution to the heated mirrors, take a look at Dieters Tech site. I put 2 switches in the doors (as mine is being used summertime only). Just wonder , what does that make me ? BR, Carl. |

I agree with John on this, my repmobile has the delay as an automatic feature. |

Not sure what it makes you Carl but ... I followed your directions, looked on "Dieter" and thought it looked a good idea. Just wonder , what does that make me ? |

The wind screen washers are a big plus in my mind not operating the wipers automatically, specially in the cold weather as you can check that water will come out before activating wipers which with no water would make visibility worst. Tom |

Which is how it was on the early ones. BTW Tom, do you want a copy of a picture I have of you passed out on the table in Warwick Castle? |

But why is the pace wipe non-adjustable? Even my neighbours Maestro Mayfair has an adjustable pace wipe... :) |

>But why is the pace wipe non-adjustable< The wipers on my *F* have:- Off, Itermittent, Slow and Fast (bloody fast in fact) - how much more adjustemnt does one require? Ted |

I beleive the 4 options currently available are more than sufficient but the Mondeo had about 6 (IIRC) options for the frequency of intermittent (sounds a bit convoluted but you all get the point) but after a couple of weeks it stayed in one place for the rest of its life. |

>BTW Tom, do you want a copy of a picture I have of you passed out on the table in Warwick Castle? Thanks for the offer but would prefer to forgot what happen that weekend, mind you I cannot remember much of that evening. Tom |

Just to back up johns point I had many intermittant wiper settings on my megane (transplanted from a laguna) all of which were never really utilised. Nik |

Why not rain sensing wipers and remove the taxing decision from the driver on what wiper speed to use? Cheers Patrick |

Also good if you want to glear city grime with top down, at standstill. Can squirt, let it settle a bit, then wipe This minimises(but doesn't completely stop) you getting wet inside. I would prefer control over intermittent. |
