MG MGF Technical - Angle of approach
Hi, Does anyone know the maximum angle that you can drive up without scraping your front bumper? I am just about to have the garage completed and realise that the ramp up to the floor has to be laid correctly. Going out now with measuring tape and pieces of wood.... Thanks Chaz |

Sorry folks, forgot essential info - standard ride height here. With a tape measure and some handbook facts, I work out the following: ground clearance is stated to be 120mm and there seems to be a vertical metal (?) sheet set back from the front bumper which is about this distance from the ground. From the centre of the wheel to that point is about 40cm and about 60cm to the front of the car. Rather than working out the angle, which will not help my builder any, I've been thinking as follows. The lip of the garage to which the ramp must reach is 11cm off the ground, so a ramp that starts 40-60cm from that lip will be OK. Am I right? |

Chaz Can't answer your question BUT I can say that my front bumper (or there abouts) has gounded on the entrance to my 'crossover' since I have had the car - Feb 96 - and the stiffener plate grounds on the the entrance to my 'drive', whilst I will not pretend that this is desirable, SO FAR it does not seem to have done any serious harm - having said that the front of the car will probably now fall apart:-( Ted |

I can't answer your question, but I recall that before I had a splitter, the first part to come into contact with the road was the towing loop on the subframe. Chris |
