MG MGF Technical - Anyone fitted Starter Button or Power Boost Valve?
HI People, Has anyone fitted the above ? the question is : 1. how long does the starter button take to fit ? 2. what did you notice after fitting the power boost valve ? Cheers ..... Jon |

Jon For the starter button. It's very easy if you have a small knowledge of electrical. The cig lighter has 12V and 0V to power it. Conviently they only become live when the ignition is in the engine run position. You only need to connect the +12V to the switch and the other side of the switch can be spliced into the appropriate wire on the ignition loom. Cable is fed down past the gear stick and upto the steering colomn. It is an easy job, taking about 20mins. HTH Edited from the thread below, just ignore the realy comments ;-) http://www2.mgcars.org.uk/cgi-bin/gen5?runprog=mgbbs&access=&mode=archiveth&subject=69&subjectar=69&thread=2004042615143830390 Rich |

PBV see @ Rob's. (uprated standard FPV, nearly same works as for PBV) Some pics at the old Nikolaj site need no translation. http://www-users.rwth-aachen.de/nikolaj.klingemann/mg-f/PBV-Einbau.htm Is said to improve throttle response special at the VVC Engine. HTH Dieter |

I am still trying to get the confidence to fit mine - i bought the button about 2 and a half months ago!!! I have got the cig lighter hole big enough, i just now need to get the wiring sorted...i think 20 mins is only if you have fitted one before and you know what you are doing! |

>Edited from the thread below, just ignore the relay comments ;-) This is the cheats way of riging the system ;-) because it doesn't kill the accessory circuit (so the radio won't switch off when you press it) which might be a problem of Kingsley and his HiFi, but I can't see it as being an issue for anyone else. |

>> PBV see @ Rob's. (uprated standard FPV, nearly same works as for PBV) << Yup - here's the link: http://www.mgf.ultimatemg.com/fuel_rail/index.htm - and follow link to Thierry's RR test results of the PBV. Starter button well covered in all the other links to threads! LOL |

Jon To save you looking on Ebay.... I have a brand new FSE Power Boost Valve (actually an uprated fuel pressure regulator) sitting here new and unused. Bought for an MGF Trophy race car but not a legal mod for the MGCC championship, so never used! Half the cost of a new one (Demon Tweeks = £98+carriage+VAT)at £55 plus £5 postage. eMail me! BTW, my race car did have push button starting, with the button on the dash a little to the right of the steering column. I didn't fit it but I guess the relevant wires had been removed from the keystarter switch and transferred to the pushbutton. Wouldn't be hard to do. Cheers Richard J. |
